I have been working at this area for awhile now and never had the chance to try any good Japanese food around the area. This new Yuba Hut outlet opened at the right timing and satisfied my cravings! The price point is kind of affordable and most importantly they have mentaiko sushi which adds extra points to this restaurant. I went to dine at this restaurant on 3 occasions.

1) Udon with shrimp tempura

The udon was served in a bowl of light dashi stock with wakame seaweed, scallions and fish cake. Light and palatable. The tempura is fried into a golden crisp. Not overcooked at all!

2) Tamago Mentaiko

The tamago was soft but not that moist inside. The addition of mentaiko made it better! All the more better when it is lightly torched!

3) Salmon Don

Would have preferred the salmon sashimi to be of a thicker cut, but nonetheless this was fresh and goes well with the warm Japanese rice.

4) Salmon Mentaiko

Would have preferred more mentaiko on the salmon. :(

5) Unagi Mentaiko

The unagi was soft and the natural sweetness of it comes through strongly. I liked that the mentaiko was evenly spread out on the meat.

6) Salmon Aburi Don

The rice portion here is so pathetic, even though this is their signature dish. The rice was covered by torched salmon and topped with fish roe. Partially grilled with the smokey and creamy flavour! yummy!
