REVIEW: 慎 SHIN UDON — ONE OF THE BEST TOKYO?
I arrived at Shin Udon half an hour before their opening hours and there was only one tourist in front of me… lucky me as I read that the queue could get quite long! But.. they have a special new year menu so the usual could not be ordered. :(
They are serving these normal udon noodles together with redone in a bowl. The udon noodles were freshly made, cut, and boiled udon?! Shin serves two styles of udon: hot and cold. I chose the hot one!
The thick square cut #udon was cooked al dente and had a chewy bite to it! This was served in a hot bowl of dried bonito-based broth. Not sure what flavor the red udon was.. but this was part of the new year's menu. This also came with a tempura platter which consists of Crab, Fish, and Shrimp paste cake, Eggplant, and Fried Pumpkin. Fried to perfection with a layer of golden crispy batter covering the seafood and vegetables.
I am not sure whether I have tried udon before in japan but this surely sets the bar high!
